Paola came into her love of horses at an early age. Visiting her grandparents' farm in Mexico started a deep admiration of the animals. When Paola came to Canada she worked for another trainer at Hastings Racecourse before joining Glen Todd and the NATHC racing stable in 2006 as a groom. Being fluent in Spanish and English, Paola also helped other foreign workers at the track. Currently, she works as Administrative Assistant in the NATHC office where she keeps track of all activities relating to the horses.
As a kid Shawn grew up around Hastings Park visiting there on weekends with his father and working there every summer throughout high school. After high school Shawn worked full time on the backside. His 12-year career included spending time working at Woodbine and Santa Anita. Shawn has had the pleasure of working for a lot of great horsemen and taking care of some remarkable racehorses like 2013 Longacres Mile winner, Herbie D, and 2019 BC Oaks winner, Amazonian. He got his trainer's license in 2016 and won his first start as a trainer that year. Shawn joined the NATHC team in late 2018 and was part of an amazing year when NATHC won the BC Oaks, the BC Derby and the S.W. Randall Plate on the same day.
